Come out of our comfort zone

Anirban said...You have quite rightly set the agenda for resurgence. It is no use living with blinkers, one has to face the reality that if a greater & larger movement is to come at first for the resurgence of this nation & gradually the globe in the Vision of Sri Aurobindo & The Mother then these three activities/areas- Politcs, culture & religion- will have to be brought into a new light. It is a daunting task but the beginning has to be made and maybe the next four years to start with are propitious as we observe the centenary of Sri Aurobindo as THE Nationalist Leader.
Enough material & indications exist that both Sri Aurobindo & The Mother considered an alternative national movement - which will include politics & eventually being in power. In a conversation on August 14 1964 The Mother says quite categorically: "Sri Aurobindo said (he said it me in an absolute way) that nothing could be done as long as WE weren't the government - not that we were going to start governing in person(!), but that those who govern should be people who "receive" and obey..."
In another conversation she gives the development required, "...it should be a man who knows Sri Aurobindo thoroughly to begin with, who is capable of receiving his inspiration directly (a very difficult condition), and has at the same time a very strong character with a power - a contagious power - and a force that can arouse the inert masses... For years I have been looking for that man, without finding him..." (the conversation ends with her saying that she had found some these qualities in Dr. Syamaprasad Mookerjee, it can be an interesting topic for a write up).
These are the realities which we most often do not discuss because most of us are comfortable with the present pattern we have evolved & which itself turns the risk of becoming ritualistic. Change through education, motivational workshops, study circles & self-study etc. are a must but, in my opinion, it is time, this change made an impact in our public life and the field of political action as well; otherwise we'll keep continuing in our comfort zone & we'll keep cursing & criticizing the system & its degeneration & lament that this is not what Sri Aurobindo wanted India to be.
Therefore you have given us a first jolt which if logically followed should start bringing & coordinating the Savitri Erans for this first step to build an alternative national movement. There may be many arguments & counter arguments but I believe that this is one of the things that needs to be initiated now. Merci. 10:00 AM
