Each line in Savitri has a Vedic character

Is Savitri by #SriAurobindo the future Vedas  ?

Heard that Sri Aurobindo expanded & raised the English language to bring in the flexibility.

The same flow that the Vedas have is there in the Savitri.

Savitri is surely Mantric poetry. As #SriAurobindo simply puts it "The Mantra (is) a rhythmic revelation or intuition arising out of the soul’s sight of God and Nature and itself and of the world and of the inner truth.."

I have it from a very genuine Vedic scholar that each line in Savitri has a Vedic character & corresponds to something in the Veda. This was 3 decades ago & I knew little of Veda & nothing of Savitri. But given his deep knowledge of the Veda I never doubted the truth of his stmt.

& that is the thing about Savitri that all the diff layers of Sri Aurobindo's complexity seem to be packed into it. So a poet wud see one layer, a mystic another, a Yogi, a Bhakta etc. Perhaps to one deeply versed in the Veda it wud reveal itself in an altogether diff light.🙏😁

Yes, plenty of places where Master uses the Vedic symbolism quite explicitly...and makes a ton of His own too...for all the places where the terrain is new you can see the shift in language...

Yes. But that assumes that people know what the Veda is in the first place and as a consequence their ability to recognise Savitri. Yet, neither is necessary if one is open because Savitri can act inspite of our incapacity, but a open being is hard to find in best of times.
To understand why we classify these together, one needs to know what Shruti is, the inspired Word that arises from the deepest highest states of consciousness. To a common mind that gives automatic veneration to anything belonging to antiquity, it is hard to distinguish.
For the intuition/inspiration bursts forth like a proclamation from the very depths of our being, the great Word is born and reborn in us, each time bringing with it a new birth, a new faculty in us. It comes in response to a conscious aspiration for Truth, a consecration of us.
The Word is no mere sound, it is a power and a vision and a becoming, all at the same time in its heights. The recipient of this Word is the Rishis, the Seer, one who sees the Truth. Not just in its binaries but in its infinite grades, with all the nuances in place.
So, that raises the issue of who is 'ready' to receive it...who has kneaded his clay sufficiently, made enough piercings on his mental lids to receive this downpour of light. To not just cognise it mentally but to have the power descend into his being and do what is needed.
And that is where the entire challenge is. For one may read the Veda or Savitri all their life and yet not move an inch, may be touched vitally, be moved aesthetically, be dazzled with its ideas...but that is not the purpose of the Shruti, for Shruti is meant to remould us.
If you have memorised Veda, a formidable skill by the way, but not felt the play and action of the Vedic deities in you...not felt the Indra's lightning intuition, not felt the tremour of Maruts upon the vital-mental planes etc., then ones takeaway from Veda is hardly anything.
So with Savitri. Know what you are approaching, it is the very Word of the Master. An anecdote. One of the disciples arranging Master's table, he puts some papers atop Savitri manuscripts. And Master tells him, I paraphrase, 'Don't keep anything on Savitri, it is my body.'
Even given leeway for some dilution, one gets the gist of it, of what Savitri is, of what He was trying...not just some literary timepass, but a codex of His pervasive action, an index to His force...just waiting there to leap on those who are ready.

Great set of tweets, bhai.🙏 Very difficult to put all these things into words but u have done it & marvellously.👌

And not to forget the arranger...our Master...our conductor supreme! Have much disagreements with Him, but still...He is good...😍
