Western philosophy suffers from the feudal approach and India can never claim any respectable place within it. Patronising attitude towards classical Indian philosophy continues which obfuscates the scene. Philosophy education in colleges of India should begin with Sri Aurobindo.
Sounds apt but who will decide what was his central proposition? His works can be seen as sequential where he continued to explore new frontiers. Nothing is less important for Sri Aurobindo. From tinkering with prosody to crafting Science fiction, all have evolutionary potential.
Everyone quotes Sri Aurobindo as per their own convenience. Nobody brings up his central proposition, his life's work. People not familiar with his works are always left imagining him as a commentator on politics, philosophy, Indian culture, history etc. This must change.
