The fact that is heading this Committee shows the importance accorded to a freedom fighter, philosopher, poet and creator of Integral Yoga, Sri Aurobindo.
It’s time for India — and the world — to meet this great sage.
Some suggestions to the Committee:
1. Introduce a full chapter on Sri Aurobindo and his work in all NCERT history books.
2. Start courses on his work in various fields (yoga, philosophy, psychology, spirituality, nationalism, poetry, literature) at degree level.
3. Establish Sri Aurobindo Chairs in all universities across India and abroad — ensure they are headed by scholars, not ideologues.
4. There are a 1,000 PhDs waiting to be written on his work — encourage them.
5. Rework India’s education policy, keeping Sri Aurobindo’s ideas of integral education in mind.
6. Embrace his political views on nationalism and economic policy as part of India’s governance matrix.
7. Strengthen Sri Aurobindo’s ideas on how matter needs to be divinised.
8. Offer to the world Sri Aurobindo’s vision of evolution and man as a transitional being.
9. Above all, read Sri Aurobindo, understand the Truths of his work — internalise them individually, adopt them nationally, assimilate them globally.
Govt resolve for involving 150 universities for dissemination of Sri Aurobindo's life and philosophy with focus on revolution and evolution is a welcome venture. It's satisfying since I have been stressing on this from 2005 as Founder-Director of Savitri Era Learning Forum (SELF).
We have not seen any of the celebrity committee members doing anything for The Mother & Sri Aurobindo, till now. So, don't be misled by their publicity machinery. Savitri Era Party and #SavitriEra Religion must be strengthened by the genuine devotees. Beware of Hindutva warriors!
Right diagnosis is essential for effective remedy and both sides are on the wrong in current conflict of Auroville. Reversing Govt takeover is the first necessity. Removing non-devotees from the administration is the next. Status quo until drastic changes at the top is corollary.
1) Matrimandir is the sacred temple of a new religion. This new religion should receive the Govt recognition.
2) Auroville takeover by Govt has served its purpose and needs to be reversed.
3) Devotees of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo must be appointed as administrators of #Auroville
Several brands of new religions have grown around The Mother & Sri Aurobindo. As Founder of Savitri Era Religion, I insist upon direct allegiance without any intermediary or guru. To steer clear of other religions is also necessary. Freedom from rituals is salient characteristic.
