Knowledge of God is itself empty of faith, just as if I have knowledge of a friend's existence I do not require faith to support a belief that my friend is real. I know my friend as I know myself and as I know God. All higher knowledge, as Aurobindo says, is knowledge by identity. A subject comes to know its object by becoming that object. So in Christianity, the one who puts on the mind and heart of Christ does not require faith to know God's grace. Posted by joe perez on August 16, 2007 12:27 AM Permalink
