This article brings some clarity to the relationship of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother which has been misrepresented in the Lives. There is always scope for constructive criticism and we all know that every word in the Lives is not sacred. There are ample misrepresentations about The Mother in the Lives and I hope the author considers revising them.

I have every right to disagree with the contents of The Lives of Sri Aurobindo by Peter Heehs and feel anguished about its potentiality for misleading a reader, but am not for revision of the book. For, like a sculpture, it may have its own blemishes but also possesses the power of attracting attention space. [TNM]

Whether Peter Heehs “is at heart a rebel” is hard to infer from his present work as this biographical account is avowedly written specially for a niche audience. We shall have to wait for a few future offerings from Heehs’ stable in order to make any cogent assessment of his identity and intention. [TNM]

Thanks for posting Raman's article. With a keen eye of discernment and insight he cogently and clearly reveals the misrepresentations resulting from the withholding of crucial and relevant facts that have been ignored by the author. Also we learn from the article how the arrangement and logical sequence of the presentation of facts in the book can be misleading, lending themselves to controversy. Reply

Jitendra has left a new comment on your post "Heehs' hostility": Dear Sir,

Right now, we need to make all sincere efforts to save original writings of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother. In future also, many Peters may try to distort the teachings, writings and biographies of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother. All followers of Sri Aurobindo should unitedly protest against this onslaught on the original writings of Sri Aurobindo. Our groups can sign iPetitions on websites and battle against the forces of falsehood...
