A monarchy of reason

Hmm, it looks like Thomas had Plato's Republic in mind when writing On Kingship than Aristotle's Politics. Anxietas 06.02.07 - 5:53 pm #
Actually, Plato's Republic does in fact reveal a monarchy of sorts, viz., that of reason. While there may not necessarily be a rule by one person (basileus) and certainly not a ruler in the medieval sense, there is certainly a singular rule by reason which is, on account of its supreme and transcendent object (to hen: the one), unified. All social roles are unified in their participation of reason via the philosopher-kings. To suggest otherwise is... well, μαλακίες! Anxietas 06.03.07 - 8:09 pm # vox-nova.com
